Our Business

Back To The Country was born from a desire to provide reasonably priced, all natural food to families like ours.

We were living our lives as many others, basically oblivious to the dangerous additives and artificial ingredients [i.e. chemicals!] in our food supply until our youngest daughter was diagnosed with GERD and migraines at age two.  After years of multiple prescriptions and doctor/hospital visits with Jessie only getting worse and worse, Mom started searching for some way to make this child well.  That led to the discovery of what is in our nation's food supply--chemicals to make food look and taste better than it actually is, preservatives to give it a longer shelf-life, pesticides, antibiotics, growth hormones, MSG, artifical sweeteners. . . a very frightening list! 

Once all the chemicals and additives [as well as prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs], were removed from her diet, Jessie was finally a happy, healthy child and remains so to this day, as long as she eats healthy food. An added benefit to our family's healthy food was the decreased ADD symptoms in Jessie's twin brother, as well as improved over-all health for the rest of the family!

In 2007 we had the wonderful oppourtunity to move 'Back To The Country' and produce our own meat, dairy and produce. Now, we're committed to helping other families eat healthier food.

Who We Are

Robert Sr is a born and raised "city boy" from the Chicago area who has discovered a true love of country life [except, that is, when the calves get out!]! In his 'real job' he is Vice President for Professional Environmental Engrs, based in St Louis, MO. He currently works from home [boy is that an understatement! lol] which gives him the flexibility needed to assist in the day-to-day management and running of the farm.

Ferna was born and raised in rural Kansas; her family includes many generations of Kansas farmers. After marrying Robert and living in Orange County California and the suburban St Louis area for many years, she is unbelievably thrilled to be Back To The Country!

Our six children include oldest son Christopher who is in the US Navy and proud father to grandson Brendon. Next oldest son, Clinton and wife Jackie, live in Alton IL with grandson Kylen.

Elizabeth, Bobby, Jimmy and Jessie still live at home. They have assimilated remarkably well to country life and truly love it as much as their parents.
